We are very excited today because we got our Christmas holidays!! We wore our Christmas jumpers to get in the festive mood!! We swapped our Kris Kindle presents, watched Home Alone and had a Christmas music dance party. It was so much fun!!
We're like busy elves in Room 13! We made Christmas decorations using lollipop sticks and then decorated them using lots of glitter and paint.
We examined the work of the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh. His painting "Starry Night" is a famous painting in which he used simple brush techniques to illustrate the wind on a stormy night. We created our own version called "Snowy Night", illustrating a snowman on a windy night. We used oil pastels and a wash of blue paint to create the windy sky.
We read the story "Velveteen Rabbit", by Margery Williams in class. In the story the boy believes that his toy rabbit is a real rabbit. Coming up to Christmas, we are busy talking about toys. We each brought in our special soft toys to school today. We discussed our history with our special teddy. Some of us even have teddies since the day we were born! It was lovely to meet each others special toys and share them with the class.
We created cut out paper snowflakes to decorate our classroom windows. They look fantastic and really add to the festive feeling. The best thing about the snowflakes is that everybodies turned out unique! Look at the video tutorial below to make some more at home!
We're busy getting into the festive spirit in Room 12! We imagined what it would be like if we were one of Santa's elves. We talked about the qualities that we think are necessary in an elf! We then wrote our own letter of application for a job as an elf, to Santa. We then illustrated ourselves as elves. Check them out below!
