It's Pancake Day today! We learned about the reason why we celebrate Pancake Day which is otherwise known as Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is also known as Mardi Gras in some countries which means "Fat Tuesday". It is called this as in the past people used to fast for forty days during the season of lent, like how Jesus did when we went to the desert. On Shrove Tuesday people would use up the foods in their house that they wouldn't be allowed to eat during Lent such as milk, eggs and flour. The ingredients used to make pancakes!! We discussed how to make pancakes and everyone brought in their favourite toppings to add to their pancakes in class!!
