We brought all our teddies into school today!! In history class we talked about toys that we played with in the past. We decided to bring in our most important teddy and share them with the class. We talked about when we got our teddy and told everyone it's name. Even Miss Quinn showed us her teddy that she has since the day she was born!!!
It's Mothers Day this Sunday! We will all do something extra special for all of our mammies to say thank you for all the hard work they do for us every day!! We decided they deserve to relax and take a break so we decided to make teapot cards to remind them to take a cup of tea!! Happy Mothers Day to all mothers!!
We are learning all about adjectives in school. Adjectives are describing words. They describe a noun. Adjectives make our writing much more interesting. We wrote an adjective poem describing our favourite things. Firstly we watched a video of Julie Andrews singing the classic song, "My favourite things" from the famous film, "The Sound of Music". When she is singing she describes all of her favourite things using adjectives. We then wrote our own adjective poem entitled, "My Favourite Things".
It is lovely spring weather so we decided to create beautiful sunflower paintings. We looked at Vincent Van Gogh's famous "Sunflower" painting. We then painted our own version of his sunflowers.

Today in school we had our annual caeli for Seachtain na Gaeilge. We have been practising our dances for a few weeks!! We had great fun! We decided to dress up as geeks for the day! What do you think?
Teacher brought in rushes all the way from "Lovely Leitrim"!! We learned all about St. Brigid. St. Brigid's Day was the first of February. We learned how St. Brigid explained the Catholic religion using the cross.
We looked and responded to the work of the famous Italian artist, Vincent Van Gogh. We examined his famous painting the Mona Lisa. It doesn't matter what angle you look at her, she always seems to be staring back at you!! We tried to imagine if we could take the Mona Lisa anywhere in the world where we could take her, we then illustrated this. We placed our own image inside the Mona Lisa!!! Take a look!!
We learned all about the history of Pancake Tuesday. "Pancake Tuesday" marks the last day before lent, the day before Ash Wednesday and is called Shrove Tuesday. It was traditionally known as Mardi Gras, where everyone would use up all the food in their house before the period of lent. Miss Quinn brought us in some pancakes and we put some of our favourite toppings on!
