Today we are getting our Easter holidays. We had a half day in school and we all wore our jerseys for jersey day.
Today was Alanah's last day in school in Ireland!!! Her family are moving to Canada!! It is a very exciting time for Alanah. We were all sad to see her go but she will make loads of new friends in her school in Canada and have lots of adventures! We made Alanah a special memory book. We stuck in lots of pictures of our class and we all wrote a special message to her. Alanah's mum and aunt came to visit our class today. They made us delicious cupcakes which even had the Canadian and Irish flag on them! They gave us a goodie bag each with little treats as well!! Thanks Alanah!!
We have been busy learning all about Ancient Egypt! It is so interesting and fun! We completed our own Egyptian projects. We learned all about the ancient Egyptian pharaoh, Tutankhamen. We drew our own Tutankhamen pictures and coloured them in with yellow oil pastel. We then painted over them with blue paint. We also painted the face gold and added some facial features.
We learned a lot about mummification as well. Some details were gross!!! The Egyptians used to remove all of the internal organs from dead bodies and even pulled brains out through their nose before they were mummified!! We also designed our names in hieroglyphs, which is the ancient Egyptian form of writing. We learned about how the great pyramid of Egypt is built.
