We were so excited that Dublin won the All Ireland final in Croke Park this year. We are extremely lucky because the Sam Maguire cup came to visit our school!!! We decorated our classroom with artwork in the Dublin colours! "Come on you boys in blue!!". We all wore our Dublin jerseys to school when Sam Maguire came to visit!!
We have been learning the importance of cycling safety the past few weeks in school. It is extremely important that we know the rules of the road when going out for our cycle. We all wear our helmets and practice our skills on the school yard with our cycling instructor. We all passed our test and received a certificate to show that we know all of our cycling skills.
We have been learning about the importance of healthy eating. Everyone is encouraged to bring a healthy lunch to school. We kept a food diary for one week and discussed what we should be eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. We drew our own favourite meals. We all designed a food pyramid. The food pyramid helps us to learn about portion size and how much of each particular food group we should be eating. We found it very interesting!!
We also did the step up challenge for five or ten minutes a day to add to our daily exercise for our Active Flag. It was great fun!!!
We have been learning all about our families. We talked about all the different family structures there can be. We learned about families all over the world. We then drew our own family trees.
Welcome to Room 12's, fourth class blog! There are 25 pupils in our class and our teacher is Miss Quinn. We will use our blog to keep you updated on some of the work and projects we do in class as well as any other exciting activities in school! The first week in school we spent time getting to know our new teacher. We came up with our class rules together. We designed a "Welcome" entrance to our classroom door. We each illustrated our name on a star to show that we are a member of our class.
We drew our own self portraits. We cut around our portraits and stuck them onto coloured circles. They really brightened up our new classroom!!
