This is a quick snapshot of the many exciting & fun activities we did in fifth class. Some memorable moments:
Ms. Ivers helped us to plant potatoes recently. Instead of planting the potatoes underground we planted them above ground inside tyres. Everybody helped to put compost into the tyre and we planted three seed potatoes. It is very important to make sure that the potatoes and their leaves are completely covered while they grow so we will be keeping a very close eye on them over the next few weeks! We had a lot of fun during Seachtain na Gaeilge this year! We really enjoyed taking part in the annual céilí and loved dressing up in green, white and orange. Take a look at some of our pictures! Everyone in the class really enjoyed taking part in Taekwondo over the past few weeks with Ross. Eiméar and Elgis were even strong enough to break a piece of wood in half with one kick! Wow! We went on our school tour to Causey Farm on Thursday 12th of June. It was a fun filled day. We explored the farm and met all the animals. We saw cows, ducks, horses, hens, donkeys and cute puppies. The highlight of the day was the visit to the bog. We travelled in style in a trailer pulled by a tractor. We sang songs on our journey. When we reached the bog we went through an obstacle course. We then met Jim who told us all about how the bog was formed and how turf is cut, Then we jumped into the bog and covered ourselves from our heads to our toes in peat! Fun on the way around the obstacle course. Jim told us all about the bog. Some of the class asked him if he had found any bog bodies or treasure in the bog! Look how high I can jump! I can jump higher! We all had a great time. There was lots of fun and laughter this week as our class took part in our annual School Céilí. The class prepared four dances in the weeks leading up to the Céilí. They had great fun on the day. Each class selected a different theme to dress up for the Céilí. Our class decided to dress up as nerds/geeks.
