In preparation for St. Patrick's Day we decorated our classroom in the traditional colours and created shamrock men to display in our classroom window. We had a caeili in school on Friday. We loved practicing our caeli dances. Our class decided to dress up as rappers and wore very cool clothes to look the part!! We had great fun!! Ben Smith and Ciara were awarded Easter Eggs because they were picked out as the best dancers!!
To celebrate Mothers Day we created beautiful cards for all the mammy's in our classroom. We drew flower pots on brown cardboard and then cut out and painted flowers. We attached them onto string and pulled them out of the card as a special surprise for our mums. We stuck our pictures on them to make them even more unique!
Today is World Book Day. We love reading in Room 8!! Mr Shier's class were extremely lucky to be selected to go on "Once Upon a Place Steam Train" storytelling tour, from Connolly Station to Drogheda. There were six spaces left on the tour and Miss Quinn held a writing competition to see who were the six winners. We had to write a persuasive letter giving Miss Quinn reasons as to why she should select us!! It was extremely difficult to judge the letters! Ciara, Megan Kelly, Vitoria, Dylan Devine, Dylan O'Rourke and Dennis were selected to join the trip.
We had a great day out. Famous storytellers and authors were on the train including Eoin Colfer, Seosamh O Maolalaí, Nicola Pierce, Oisín McGann, Rod Smith and Debbie Thomas! Eoin Colfer signed his autograph for everyone and he even gave us a free signed copy of one of his books!!!
There were 300 pupils from 9 schools on board the train and we even got to meet the mayor of Fingal. It was great fun and we really enjoyed our day on the steam engine!!
