We listened to the famous Beetles song "Octopus Garden", and tried to imagine images in our head of what life might be like under the sea. We created "Under the Sea" wax resist paintings. We firstly used oil pastels to create a drawing of life under the sea. We then painted over our pastel drawings using water mixed with blue paint to give a sea water effect. The results looked great displayed in our classroom!!
We have been learning all about Ancient Greece in history. We looked at Ancient Greek pots on the internet. The images drawn on the pots give us clues of what life was like during ancient Greek times. Drawings of weapons and animals give us an insight into life during that time.
We also learned that The Olympics were first held in Greece. The Ancient Olympics began in 776BC. We learned a lot about the sports which were held in the Ancient Olympics. Some were similar and some were very different to the sports nowadays! Did you know that women and girls were not even allowed to compete?! We created exciting projects on the Ancient Olympics in our groups. You can learn more about the games in the Ancient Olympics by clicking on the link below.
