Happy Christmas from Room 8!! We had great fun today on our last day of school before our Christmas holidays. We all wore our Christmas jumpers to get ourselves in the festive mood. We swapped our Kris Kindle presents and then sang lots of Christmas songs.
We painted festive modern reindeer and Santa paintings. They looked great displayed in our classroom.
We have been learning about the real meaning of Christmas. We looked at a video explaining the nativity story. We created silhouettes of the Christmas crib to remind us of why we celebrate Christmas.
We are feeling very festive in Room 8! After watching a clip from Elf the movie we discussed what life might be like if we were elves. We wrote a story based on this and drew ourselves as one of Santa's elves. We also imagined what we would do if we had a reindeer. We wrote very funny stories and created a magical display!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Room 8! We created our own "Snowy Night". We looked and responded to Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and then created our own Christmas version of a snowman on a snowy windy night. We used oil pastels to colour and then a blue wash paint for the sky using pastels to imitate the brush strokes Van Gogh used to paint the sky.
