We studied materials in science and learned that oil and water form an emulsion when you try to mix them. Their particles can only be mixed by adding an agent like washing up liquid, which breaks down the particles and allows the two substances to mix. We used this fact to make lava lamps using water, food colouring, oil and old bottles we found at home. The colours look great and we cant wait to add our mixing agent- alka seltzer tablets- to it to watch the liquids mix like a lava lamp!

We were absolutely delighted to come second in the 5th and 6th class talent show. The whole class put in a huge effort working in three groups and choreographing the whole routine so the medals were well deserved. You can see a video of our 'synchronized swimming' performance below, we hope you enjoy it! We decided to do something different for céilí this year and made our costumes during art class. We made masks and capes and either created our own superheroes or copied some of our favorites. Check out our superhero poses below!
For maths week this year we made our own maths problems for the class to solve in pairs. We used images from argos catalogues to create the problems and we are working on our problem solving skills every day. See if you can solve our tricky problems.
At the start of the year we decided to make portraits of ourselves with a bit of a twist. We studied the work of the artist Roy Lichtenstein and made captions for our portraits. It took a long time to fill in the pages with dots and we had to stick to simple colours to give the full effect. |
