Rainbows
“It’s Hard To Learn When I Hurt Inside”
Rainbows is a peer support programme for children who are grieving significant loss in their lives due to a death, separation, divorce or any other painful transition in their family.
At St. Cronan’s, Rainbows is offered as a support to children who are hurting due to a significant life changing experience. Unfortunately, because of their age, children are sometimes silent in their grief and have a difficult time expressing their feelings of hurt.
The programme consists of twelve weekly meetings, divided into two six-week parts.
Each peer group is made up of three to five children. They participate in activities and discussions that focus on particular topics relevant to the changes that happen in families.
The small support group of children is facilitated by a qualified member of staff who have been specially trained and provided with the materials needed to carry out the aim of Rainbows effectively.
Contact Rainbows Ireland for further information at www.rainbowsireland.com or ask to speak to the Rainbows Coordinator in the school.
