Our School

Scoil Chrónáin, St. Cronan’s Senior National School is a co-educational Catholic School catering for children from 3rd to 6th classes. There are over 600 pupils in the school spread across 23 mainstream classes, one class for children with Mild General Learning Disability and two classes for children with autism. We are an inclusive school with supporting teachers for children with special educational needs.

Mission Statement

The Board of Management is charged with the direct governance of the school, the appointment of teachers and the day to day maintenance and administration of the school. The authority of the Principal, who is responsible for the daily running of the school, derives from the Board of Management.

Members of the Board undertake to manage the school in accordance with the regulations of the Department of Education and are required to keep confidential all matters discussed at the meetings unless otherwise advised.

The B.O.M. consists of 8 members:
- 2 Patron Nominees.
- 2 Teachers.
- 2 Parents.
- 2 Community Representatives.

All correspondence to members of the B.O.M. should be addressed to the Chairperson c/o Scoil Chrónáin Senior National School.

Parents' Association

The Parents' Association, which represents all parents of children in Scoil Chrónáin, has an active partnership with the teaching staff and the Board of Management. It is affiliated to the National Parents Council.

Student Council

One of the ways we help our children to ‘blossom’ in Scoil Chrónáin is to develop their leadership skills and respect their opinions. Our Student Council is made up of 2 pupils from each of our sixth classes. They are elected by their classmates to serve for the current school year.
The Council are the voice of the pupils of Scoil Chrónáin. They hold regular meetings to discuss life in our school and bring ideas and suggestions on how to make it a better place.

We have a wonderful school; this is due to the total commitment of our dedicated Staff, Board of Management, Parents’ Association and pupils.
