Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025
Bhí dhá seachtain iontacha againn i Scoil Chrónáin ag ceiliuradh Seachtain Na Gaeilge 2025. Bhí deiseanna ag na bpáistí agus ag na múinteoirí ár gcúltúr agus ár teanga dúcháis a chéiliúradh thar an coicíse. Bhí réimse leathan gníomhaíochtaí ar síul agus bhain pobal na scoile an taitneamh agus spraoi astu. Rinne rang a trí agus rang a cúig an Féile dramaíochta agus bhí tráth na gceist ar siúl do rang a ceathar agus rang a sé sa halla. Faoi dheireadh, bhí céilí mór sa halla ar an Aoine do rang a trí go dtí rang a sé.
Seachtain na Gaeilge 2025 was a great success at Scoil Chrónáin with pupils from every class speaking as gaeilge while celebrating our Irish culture. This year's schedule of events included some of our usual activities and also some new and exciting initiatives.
We had Féile Dramaíochta in the school hall where each of our 3rd and 5th classes performed a short drama. Each act was highly entertaining and included great drama skills, super costumes and some brilliant props. Rich Irish language was showcased throughout each drama.
There was a very exciting Tráth na gCeist in the hall for the 4th and 6th classes. Each team participated in a quiz with eight rounds of questions including general knowledge, photos and music. The atmosphere was brilliant and the children had so much fun. The results were very close and overall winners emerged from Ms Ivers' 4th class and Ms O' Shea's 6th class.
Our Seachtain na Gaeilge concluded with a Lá Glas and a Céilí Mór in the hall for each class. The children danced The Walls of Limerick, The Siege of Ennis, Shoe the Donkey and the Damhsa Mór. All the practising in class certainly paid off as the children performed all the dance steps with great confidence.
This céilí was made even better by some dancing and singing performances from individual pupils. There was also a performance on the recorder from a 6th class group playing the traditional tune Sé mo laoch. This performance included performances on the bassoon and the violin too. Our very talented staff music group Ceolteoirí Chrónáin also performed for the pupils. This group included our principal Ms Desmond and five of our very talented teachers playing some traditional Irish airs on a range of wind and string instruments.
Well done to all the pupils, teachers and parents who made this year's Seachtain na Gaeilge one of the best yet. The school is particularly indebted to our language and arts departments for all they did during this week and indeed for the promotion of Irish all year round.
